By Olly Hawkins

Newcastle United are reportedly closing in on the appointment of a new manager, with four summer targets also identified as the club looks to build on its impressive season.

According to The Telegraph, Newcastle are set to name former Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp as their new manager. Klopp has been out of work since leaving Anfield at the end of last season, and he is now said to be keen on a return to management.

Newcastle are also said to be interested in signing a new striker in the summer, with Napoli's Victor Osimhen and Benfica's Goncalo Ramos both being linked with a move to St James' Park. The Magpies are also reportedly interested in signing a new left-back, with Bayer Leverkusen's Mitchel Bakker and Hoffenheim's David Raum both being mentioned as possible targets.

These signings would add even more quality to a Newcastle squad that has already impressed this season. The Magpies are currently fourth in the Premier League table, and they are on course to qualify for the Champions League for the first time since 2012.

The appointment of Klopp as manager would be a major coup for Newcastle. The German coach is one of the most successful managers in the world, and he has a proven track record of winning trophies.

The signing of a new striker and left-back would also be a major boost for Newcastle. Osimhen and Ramos are both prolific goalscorers, while Bakker and Raum are both highly-rated defenders.

If Newcastle can complete these signings, they will be well-placed to challenge for a top-four finish next season.
